18TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS - EVERYBODY'S GOT A FAVOURITE BEACH WITH LAURIE McCALL
18th December (seriously?) and we’re coming to the end of the online shopping end dates to have your presents delivered in time for Christmas. But fear not, there’s still a couple of days left and then after that I’ll be giving you a few ideas to get wherever you are - because you always forget someone!
Its no surprise based on my coastal location that a lot of my christmas gift guides have elements of travel and the sea. And today’s is no exception! Todays Christmas Gift Guide takes a little journey down the coast, from my home of Devon to Cornwall with artist Laurie McCall.
I’m a big lover of graphic, contemporary art full of colour, clean lines and character - Laurie’s work delivers all of that and more. Working in a range of mediums his pieces are bold and bright and obviously heavily influenced by the coast. His 'Surfscape' series depict some of his favourite Cornish beaches showing dreamy surf conditions with a clever use of light, creating an idealistic image of Cornwall's beaches.
Everybody has a favourite beach - somewhere where they feel at home as soon as they arrive (I reckon even landlocked city dwellers must experience this!). And with Cornwall being one of the most popular seaside destinations in the UK I’d bet a good bit of money that today’s choices will hit the jackpot for someone on your list.
