20TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS - FINDING RELAXATION IN COLOUR
Unless you’ve been on Mars for the whole of 2015 you can’t have escaped the rise of the adult colouring book.
A popular form of meditation in the busy lives we lead, adults all over the world are picking up their colouring pencils and scribbling like crazy.
As my daily life involves drawing, colouring and doodling I hadn’t really seen the value in it for me. Then I spent an hour or so one rainy afternoon helping a little friend of mine with her princess colouring book. The struggle was real not to push her out the way and take over all of it myself. I might be a little more anal these days about going over the lines, but my love of working out new colour combinations and patterns is still strong.
This little lightbulb moment came at the exact time that a dear friend and incredible illustrator Emily Hamilton contributed to a couple of books from 'the art of mindfulness' series. The perfect gift for stressed out ladies (and gents) that need a little nudge to take some time out and clear their mind.
I’m currently working with Emily on launching her new kids room decor brand and website. I’ve had a little sneak peak at her products and I’m planning on decking my own home out in most of them, and I don’t even have any kids! They are inspiring, colourful, fun yet stylish.
